The Faculty of Business (FOB) of City University of Macau has officially received accreditation from the Business Graduates Association (BGA), one of the world’s leading authorities on business education.
The City University of Macau was established in 1981 and has 13 faculties. FOB is the longest running faculty of the university and is the second largest at the university.
As part of the BGA accreditation, a panel of assessors comprised of senior Business School leaders from across the globe evaluated FOB. The panel commended the strong and authoritative leadership of the faculty.
The positive developments of FOB were also commented on by the panel, these included the launch of an FOB-managed alumni organisation and careers centre, the internationalisation initiatives with mainland China, Brazil and Portugal and the creation of a student led sustainability club.
Professor José Alves, Dean of FOB, said: ‘Joining the BGA has been one of the most important decisions that the City University of Macau took in recent years. Working together with the BGA helped our Faculties tremendously to better understand who we are and what we want to be. With BGA accreditation we are now more determined than ever.’
BGA accreditation is a gold-standard quality assurance achievement that is awarded to Business Schools that can clearly demonstrate an increasing impact on their students and communities over a measurable period, using BGA’s Continuous Impact Model (CIM), which assesses the improvement in impact across a range of metrics.
BGA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and the organisation works with senior academics at top educational institutions around the world, to update accreditation criteria continuously and maintain one unique, in-depth and detailed approach.
Upon receiving BGA accreditation, all current undergraduates and alumni from any of the Business School’s programmes are invited to join BGA’s individual membership network. Through this network, students and graduates can strengthen a community that acts as a force for good in management thought and practice, through exclusive events and business content.
Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA, said: ‘Congratulations to the faculty and leadership team at FOB for achieving BGA-accreditation. This is a huge milestone for BGA, as this accreditation is the first one of a School which is not also accredited by BGA’s sister organisation, the Association of MBA. I would like to warmly welcome the School to our unique and prestigious network of global Business Schools.
‘I would also like to congratulate the Faculty of Finance at the City University of Macau for achieving BGA validation.’
