Silesian University of Technology achieved validation from the Business Graduates Association (BGA)

Silesian University of Technology has received validation from the Business Graduates Association (BGA), demonstrating its positive impact on students, graduates and society, against independent international quality standards.

Launched in January 2019, BGA, which is the sister organisation of the Association of MBAs (AMBA), is the only Business School quality assurance organisation to offer candidate Schools a middle ground between membership and full accreditation.

Validation serves as a measure of progression for Business Schools, as it aims to ensure that the School can demonstrate that it is reputable against independent international quality standards.

To achieve validation, Business Schools are required to demonstrate they are acting in accordance with nine principles set out in the BGA Charter, and have a strategic plan on how they can further improve against each principle.

The Charter principles are as follows:

  1. Meeting demands of the economy, contributing to economic growth and development, and driving social transformation
  2. The principles of CSR, ethics and sustainability (reflecting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals)
  3. Good governance, institutional sustainability and integrity
  4. Generating value by building tangible connections with other academic institutions
  5. Continuous improvement
  6. Impact, innovation and excellence
  7. The involvement, inclusion and respect of all stakeholders
  8. The principles of equality and diversity
  9. Graduate employability and corporate relations

To achieve BGA validation, Silesian University of Technology provided a well-rounded validation submission, demonstrating a clear commitment to impact.

Małgorzata Dobrowolska, Head of International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and the MBA Programmes Director said, ‘Our university has received validation from the Business Graduates Association, confirming its positive impact on students, graduates and society, based on independent international quality standards. Validation is a measure of progress for Business Schools and aims to demonstrate the institution’s reputation for independent international quality standards. We at the SUT feel honoured and privileged with this decision of the BGA.’

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA, added: ‘I am delighted Silesian University of Technology has achieved validation from the Business Graduate Association. I would like to congratulate everyone who worked so hard to achieve this validation. By achieving BGA validation, the School has demonstrated a commitment to responsible management teaching. I look forward to working with Silesian University of Technology to produce a better future for both the planet and people.’

About Silesian University of Technology and validated units
https://www.polsl.pl/en/

The Silesian University of Technology Poland: operates on four campuses, within 12 scientific disciplines and six priority research areas. It is a scientific and didactic base for one of the most industrialised areas in Europe, educating >18 000 students in over 50 fields of study.
SUT’s business and management programmes portfolio includes offers coordinated by two cooperating units: the Faculty of Organisation and Management with a wide range of programmes and the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research dealing with the MBA programmes offer. The operational basis in terms of curriculum, research and organisation lay in central university regulations. Both units offer together a wide range of business related studies at all levels (undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral) and in all forms (full-time, part-time and post-diploma studies), in which the combination of technology and management aspects takes the form of substantive mutual benefits. The inseparability of technology in business programmes offered by the SUT is perceived as an advantage and an asset. This unique combination makes its teaching and research offer highly interdisciplinary, and unique, allowing to educate the top-level class of managerial staff.

In view of the legal changes introduced in Poland in recent years, all fields of study have been assigned to the Scientific Disciplines. Business majors – those run by the Faculty of Organisation and Management as well as the MBA programmes coordinated by the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research have been assigned to the Discipline ‘Management and Quality Sciences’, perceived as a business discipline. It merges and complements all business and management programmes offered by the SUT, constituting a two-part structure under the validation and accreditation processes.
